At UFC 218, an injury has given Jose Aldo a quicker rematch with Max Holloway than expected!  With only three weeks notice, Aldo gets a chance at redemption!  If you’re here reading this, it’s probably because you know that I’ve established myself as an expert in picking UFC PPV main event winners.  This article is later than usual, but, I wanted to take everything into account and make sure that I give you the best prediction possible.  Let’s take a closer look at these fighters and then, as usual, I’ll make my pick. This time it’s for UFC 218: Max Holloway vs. Jose Aldo 2.

Jose Aldo comes into this title shot and rematch with an overall MMA record of 26-3.  For a long time, a very long time, Jose Aldo looked unbeatable.  Aldo had 18 wins in a row beating the best of the best in his division until he lost his title to Conor McGregor.  After that loss he came back with a solid win versus Frankie Edgar. But, then took another L in the unification title bought with Max Holloway.

Jose Aldo now gets a shot at redemption and can regain his throne.  Aldo is a great striker.  He’s quick, explosive, and can finish fights.  Aldo has 14 KO/TKO’s on his resume.  The knock on Aldo is his gas tank.  Aldo starts well, but, when fights go into deep water, he has trouble.  Holloway exploited that in their first fight.

Max Holloway comes into this title defense with an overall MMA record of 18-3.  Holloway hasn’t taken an L since 2013 and is currently on an 11 fight winning streak.  He hasn’t been fighting cans either, they’ve all been top contenders, and or champions.

In their first match-up, Holloway showed that his striking is on par with the best in the UFC.  He also showed he can weather a storm and that his gas tank is on of the best in MMA.  In this fight, look for Aldo to come out strong as usual.  Holloway will once again weather the storm and drag the fight into deep waters.  Deep into the third round, Max Holloway will begin to pull away landing more and more and winning exchanges.  Look for Holloway’s pressure to break Aldo’s spirit.

Holloway is young, hungry and fully armed with MMA skills. He will walk out of that cage with the belt and will solidify his position in the featherweight division!
