Chingasos MMA - Final Round Fight Gear Contest

Martial Arts Competition Los Angeles
Calling all chingones and chingonas!  We need a little help.  Final Round Fight Gear put up some gloves for a contest, and instead of hand picking someone worthy of these professional, double stitched, leather boxing gloves, we chose to let the people decide! For those of you that follow and support Chingasos MMA, you already now we had a contest last week.

This contest was meant to shake and rattle the Los Angeles area MMA, Muay Thai and boxing cage so as to find some of the areas most talented fighters.  The contest was simple, showcase some of your chingasos and let the people vote on who deserves the gloves.

So, with all that out of the way, let’s get to the first entry!

First to show up was up and coming MMA female fighter Melana Smith.

Next up was, Nick Dunn!

Third was Heinrich Wassmer!

Last but not least, check out Jared Ejigu!

“No Guts, No Glory!”

Much respect to these fighters for putting themselves out there and competing for these gloves.  They’re all worthy, but, we can only have one winner.  Help us pick the winner.  VOTE HERE!

The poll will close Wednesday at 5 p.m. and we’ll contact the winner soon after to award the Final Round Fight Gear gloves.

UFC 173 Renan Barao vs TJ Dillashaw Fight Pick and Preview

UFC 173 renan barao tj dillashaw
This Saturday, Renan Barao attempts to defend his UFC Bantamweight title again.  This time against an up and coming fighter in TJ Dillashaw.  Renan Barao hasn’t lost an MMA fight in 9 years!  TJ Dillashaw is good, but is he running into a buzz saw?  Let’s take a closer look at these fighters and then I’ll make my UFC fight pick.  I’m 13-1 in the last 14 UFC Main Event fight picks.  I’ve been doing these UFC fight picks for a few years now and I’ve been the most accurate of any MMA sports website or writer.  I plan to be right again!

TJ Dillashaw is 9-2 overall with 5 of those wins coming in the UFC.  Dillashaw is a strong wrestler who has picked up the striking game nicely.  He’s been able to mix things up strategically and has finished 6 of his opponents, 3 by KO/TKO and 3 by submission.  Dillashaw was on a nice UFC winning streak with 4 until he lost a split decision to Raphael Assuncao.  He got right back to winning and showcased his ever improving striking with a dominant unanimous decision over Mike Easton.  Will Dillashaw’s wrestling and sharpened striking skills be enough to beat Barao?

Renan Barao comes into this UFC title defense with an amazing overall MMA record of 32-1.  His only loss came in his MMA debut fight 9 years ago!  Barao isn’t just a winner, he finishes!  He’s finished almost 70% of his fights, 14 coming via submission and another 8 via KO/TKO.  Even his decision victories tend to be dominant, 8 of his last 10 have all been unanimous!  Barao is most definitely in the conversation when it comes down to pound for pound best MMA fighter in the world! Will Dillashaw be a threat to his winning ways?

TJ Dillashaw is good, but Barao right now is great!  Barao has a complete MMA toolbox plus plenty of experience using it.  Experience is what will make the difference in this fight!  Look for Barao to pepper and confuse Dillashaw with his striking.  Dillashaw will attempt takedowns but Barao will be able to shake them off and continue domination with strikes and an overall better MMA game.

Scorpio Sky Makes MMA Debut at U of MMA June 1

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Christian Cole.  Christian Cole has been a ring announcer in the Los Angeles local MMA scene for a long time.  Not only has he been one of the best MMA ring announcers in the Los Angeles area, he’s also managed fighters in the professional wrestling world.  On June 1, at the U of MMA event “Fight Night”, which will take place at Club Nokia in Down Town Los Angeles, Christian Cole’s client, Scorpio Sky (The Experience) will come out of the professional wrestling world and make his MMA debut.

Last week, Christian Cole, Scorpio Sky (The Experience) and Jay Tan stopped by for a quick photography session and interview to promote this much anticipated crossover from wrestling into MMA.  Many questions will be answered at U of MMA’s Fight Night on June 1.

Check out what Christian Cole, and Scorpio Sky had to say about this fight, U of MMA, and the crossover.
