Submisssion Grappling La Puente

Submission grappling reached La Puente, California on April 21, 2012. Florez Gym hosted a submission grappling tournament for the beginner and novice grapplers. Derrick "BigDee" Martinez organized this double elimination tournament. The double elimination format gives every grappler a chance for multiple opportunities to showcase their talent.

As an added bonus, BigDee called on two heavyweights to put on an exhibition Muay Thai fight. Jeremy Petruncio and Mark Delacruz threw chingaso after chingaso to pump up the crowd and add to an already exciting event.
As you would expect, there were takedowns, slams, submission attempts and full submissions. Here are the results:

If you missed UFC 145 last night, here are the complete fight results.  As always, there was a little bit of everything for MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fans to enjoy.  There were some exciting KO/TKO's. Submission were lacking, but there was one nicely set up arm triangle submission to the Chingajitsu fans.  Here are the complete UFC 145 results:

Friday Night Fight Results Los Angeles

Los Angeles MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fans warmed up for UFC 145 with an MMA event put on by Spar Star Promotions.  Tony Padilla and his Spar Star Promotions crew set up some great MMA fights at the Hollywood Park Casino Friday evening.  Thirteen fights on the card and several finishes highlighted this MMA Event, and satisfied the fans that poured in to witness the action. Here are the complete fight results for Friday Night Fights at the Hollywood Park Casino put on by Spar Star Promotions. The last UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) pay per view MMA event was UFC 144 held way back on February 26, 2012.  The long lay off is over! UFC 145 is now upon us.  The long awaited grudge match between former teammates Jon Jones and Rashad Evans is going down tomorrow night in Atlanta, Georgia at the Philips Arena.

Are you ready for 15 minutes of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fight fame?  If so, and you're in the Los Angeles area, you're in luck.  A couple of days ago I was contacted by casting agent David Tapia and was asked to spread the word about an upcoming MMA fighting reality show based on couples.

David explained to me that it will be a reality/competition show called "Couples Fight" for a YouTube Channel web series launching this Summer.  They're looking for couples without MMA experience to fight after training with a pro.

Tony Padilla and Spar Star Promotions is once again bringing MMA fight action to the Hollywood Park Casino. Jon Jones rose through the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) light heavyweight division by not only winning, but by demolishing the competition.  On Saturday, April 21, he faces his biggest challenge yet.  Jones will face number one contender, former UFC champion and a fighter with only one smudge on his record, Rashad Evans.  UFC 145 is going down at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Now that you know my fight pick for UFC 145, and that we're a bit crazy over here at Chingasos MMA,  I'll take you through each of the fighters last few fights so that you can see how I came to my official choice.

Jiu Jitsu No Gi Submission Grappling Tournament April 21

Every year, Derrick Martinez puts on a Jiu Jitsu no gi submission grappling tournament for his birthday.  This year, the Jiu Jitsu no gi submission grappling tournament is going down on Saturday, April 21 at the Florez Muay Thai Gym in La Puente, California.  If you've been itching to test out your Chingajitsu, this will be a great opportunity for you to do so, at a low cost, in a fun environment.

The Jiu Jitsu no gi grappling tournament will get going at 2:30 p.m., with the weigh-in time being at 1:30 p.m.  There will be a $10 fee to enter.  Grapplers must have 6 months to three years experience. The minimum age to compete is 15, with parent/guardian permission.
