When it comes to gruesome injuries, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is like any other sport. They happen, they're rare, extreme and they make you go "Ohhhhhhh!" I remember being at a sports bar when Frank Mir broke Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's arm with a kimura submission technique at UFC 140. The crowd exploded with a unified "Ohhhhhhh!". Bone breaks in MMA , just like in any other sport are rare, but they do happen. Check out these 4 videos of bones breaking in MMA fights. You might not want to watch, but then again, you probably do. Here are the fight videos in no particular order:
Here's a video of an MMA fight at the Cage Rage event. This fight didn't take long. A few seconds into the fight…. Ouch!!!
This fight took place on July 1st in Daytona Beach, Florida at Breakthrough MMA's inaugural event "Proving Ground". Aaron Strawmier slaps on a kimora submission on Jonathan Riffles arm. Then…..snap! The sound of the arm breaking is just incredible.
This video was filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Tuff N Uff fights on February 26, 2009 in the Orleans Hotel/Casino. Once again, the snapping sound of the submission technique finishing off the arm is….well,….just wow!
In this video you can see what happens when you don't tap to an armbar submission. Yup, another bone break in MMA. Check out George Allen vs Carlos Martinez at Fight Fest 2011in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
There's two lessons here. One, MMA fighters are tough as nails, and two, if you're not getting paid big money, you might just want to tap before your bones go snap. Feel free to comment, and if you have any videos of bone breaks in MMA, go ahead and post the link. It's always good to remind ourselves to respect the power of MMA techniques.
